Magic for Los Angeles NFL

By: SAL

Magic Johnson, the Basketball Legend, announced on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Show that he wants to bring back to life the NFL in L.A

I’ve read Johnson teamed with Tim Leiweke and AEG and now they are working to bring back NFL franchise to the Los Angeles. AEG owns a large business of entertainment and many sports teams like the (NBA) Los Angeles Lakers, (WNBA) Los Angeles Sparks, (MLS) Los Angeles Galaxy, (NHL) Los Angeles Kings, among many others.

Johnson sold 4.5% of his interest in NBA Los Angeles Lakers and the Starbucks franchises. He is definitely decided in bringing a NFL team to L.A. Since 1994 season; Los Angeles lacks the presence of a NFL Pro Team, the Rams and the Riders being the last of them.

Plans to build a retractable-roof stadium near the downtown are one of the ideas AEG have for the team that will take L.A as home. That’s a huge offer to consider and many teams are in the list of prospects for this opportunity, say Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and the former L.A teams; Oakland Raiders, and St. Louis Rams.

After selling his interest, Johnson explained his reasons for teaming with AEG are because he believes the owners want a team to be in L.A, also he thinks the commissioner of the NFL is doing a great job and he may like to have it there, just like the fans.

Looks like the AEG already made moves to get San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings. Johnson doesn’t believes the NFL expand, so relocating a existing franchise is the best available choice, however he believes some teams out there would be willing to move. L.A being one of the biggest cities in U.S.A with huge commercial opportunities and the second largest TV market; could be like a fresh apple in the middle of a desert for many teams around the corner.
